My Sewing Business Philosophy:
I learned to sew in the traditional way by purchasing a pattern and some fabric and following the enclosed instructions.  This process began at the age of 8 and continued to my college years.  At that point, through college instructors and working in the apparel industry, I learned that home sewing techniques are not generally the techniques used in the garment industry.  By learning industrial techniques and tricks, my sewing ability evolved into a more professional and exact approach.  My goal when doing alterations or making a custom garment is a professional, well-finished and well-fitting result.   Nothing about the garment should say "home-made" or "home-altered".  This means that I finish seam allowances, return tags to their original place, and use the same techniques, threads and finishes as the original garment whenever possible.
Please take this philosophy into consideration when choosing a seamstress or tailor.  Knowing home-sewing techniques is not enough to professionally fit and alter ready-to-wear.  The sewing professional that works on your garments should be well-versed in industry techniques and methods.  They should guarantee their work.  The end result should be that you, the customer, has clothing that fits your body, suits your style, reflects your personality, and looks professionally finished.
